Professor Goerg forscht in den Bereichen der Verhaltens- und Experimentalökonomie. Er untersucht die Auswirkungen von Anreizen, Informationen und (rechtlichen) Institutionen auf menschliches Verhalten. Zusammen mit Koautoren aus den Sozial- und Naturwissenschaften verfolgt er eine interdisziplinäre Forschungsagenda.
Professor Goerg studierte Volkswirtschaftslehre an der Universität Bonn und promovierte dort im Anschluss bei Nobelpreisträger Prof. Reinhard Selten. Von 2009 bis 2012 forschte er am Max-Planck-Institut zur Erforschung von Gemeinschaftsgütern. Nach Aufenthalten an der Shanghai Jiao Tong University und der University of Michigan wechselte er 2012 als Assistant Professor an die Florida State University. Dort erhielt er 2018 Tenure. 2018 wurde Prof. Goerg als Associate Professor auf den Lehrstuhl für Economics am TUMCS für Biotechnologie und Nachhaltigkeit berufen. Er ist Zweitmitglied an der TUM School of Management. Darüber hinaus ist er Research Fellow am IZA – Institute of Labor Economics und Research Affiliate am MPI zur Erforschung von Gemeinschaftsgütern.
